About

pharvey-pic-bwPete Harvey is an English novelist, idealist and gin-lover who has lived and worked in different parts of Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

He enjoys being in new places and countries (though not necessarily the travel getting there), is a lover of wildlife and wild places, never says ‘no’ to a gin and tonic, and despite being skeptical about many things, is an idealist at heart, believing in the best in people, mankind and being.

His first novel, Indelible Scars, tells the story of Joe, a young British engineer with a thirst for adventure and a desire to make a difference in the world. When given an opportunity to travel to East Timor as an aid worker, he jumps at the chance, with no inkling of the dangers and dilemmas that await him. He is plunged into a world of atrocities and mass graves, where confronting human cruelty becomes an everyday occurrence. Yet wounds closer to home begin to haunt him and Joe soon realizes that his biggest challenge is not dealing with the horrors of Timor but with a much more personal threat. Under mounting pressure, he must choose…

…to protect himself or protect another, to tell the truth or live a lie, to hide the scars or let them heal.

Pete is currently working on his second novel, Proverbial Dreams, set in West Africa.

Posts on this blog are categorized under ‘writing’, ‘idealism’ and ‘places’. There is no category for ‘gin’ as interest here remains more in the practice than the theory. And please note, that there was not a typo and Pete has never been, and never will be, a ‘gun-lover’.
